Saw this as the thumbnail for a Business Insider article, via The Weather Channel website's suggestion of things it thought I might like (and see, it was right!). I really wish I'd known back when I was graduating high school that resumes didn't have to all match the same format--I used to stress so much about them because my teachers had all drilled into my head that a resume had to look a set way or I'd be jobless.
I love this layout, and if I were an employer I would definitely want to interview you. It's brilliant.
Yeah, it's always good to stand out from the pack. However, doing something like this nowadays is a bit of a risky move. With soooo many people out of work you're probably better off using a simple well-designed resume and catching someone's attention in another way. If I was to do this today, I would definitely make a mailer instead of an e-mailed resume. For one thing, it forces them to open it and people always like getting cool things in the mail. You can get creative with the type of package you send too. As long as it's built around a unifying theme I think it would work.
I love this layout, and if I were an employer I would definitely want to interview you.
